Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA firmly states that the pander case conducted by an Unhas staff has truly undermined the good image of Unhas. “The fraud case conducted by panderers have truly harmed and undermined the image of Unhas. It truly has,” Dwia stated during the press release filled with approximately 50 individuals from newspapers, and electronic and online news, in the Rectorate Building Unhas (7/12).
According to the Rector, the individuals that have engaged on fraud conducts used the modus operandi as being panderers for student admission to Unhas. “But that does not exist. The amount of students accepted has already been determined six months prior to the admission dates. It could not be added,” firmly stated by Dwia, which was accompanied by the University Secretary Dr. Nasaruddin Salam, MT and Vice Rector III Unhas Dr. Abd. Rasyid J. M.Si.
Dwia stated, that the student enrollment pathways are only through SBMPTN, SNMPTN, JNS/ POSK, and the International Class Program. “The quotas has been determined beforehand by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education and can be clearly accessed through the Unhas website. The figures cannot be added. If there are those that passed but did not re-register, their position will be shifted to JNS, and for those that pass through this independent phase, the payment would be through UKT 5. Meanwhile for Doctoral education, the payment amount is IDR 20 million with no further additional payments throughout their academic years,” added Nasaruddin Salam.
Unhas response towards the pandering case also involves the police authorities. “The police must be decisive, as this phenomenon is one that brings harm to the general public. There must be a deterrent effect that takes place so that such a matter like this does not resurface,” she firmly stated. Unhas also will be recommending to the Ministry so that all of the irresponsible individuals from Unhas be fired from their Civil Servant status if proven guilty.
Dwia also hoped so that the police officials are serious in exposing the networks of mafia and panderers that have infiltrated Unhas, so that such a matter does not resurface next year. “This is a major organized fraud. This cannot happen once again,” assertively stated by the Conflict Sociology expert.
For all elements of the community, Rector Unhas hoped, if there are any individuals voicing assistances for easy enrollment to Unhas, to not respond to them. “If such a matter occurs, just report it to Unhas. We will follow it up,” Dwia’s voice rose.
The press release is conducted based on the newspaper and electronic news sources that have shown a fraud case made by a panderer, promising prospects of being admitted to Unhas. The result of the police investigations as of now is the questioning of 14 individuals related to the case. Among those investigated is a civil servant of Unhas, which has been determined as one of the suspects with the initial “R.”
