Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), through the Faculty of Fishery and Marine Science (FIKP), collaborates with Shanghai Ocean University on the Conservation of Marine Fishery Resources. The partnership is stated in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Dean of FIKP Unhas (Dr. Ir. St. Aisjah Farhum, M.Si) and the vice-president of Shanghai Ocean University (Min Jiang).
The signing of the MoU took place virtually using the Zoom Meeting application at 14.00 WITA on Friday (27/08).
Min Jiang warmly welcomed the collaboration of the two parties. The vice-president said that China and Indonesia have good partnerships in various fields. Unhas is one of the Indonesian universities that has many achievements and excellence. Min Jiang hoped that the collaboration could bring advantages and profits for both parties.
On the same occasion, the Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA., expressed her gratitude for the trust given by Shanghai Ocean University. She hoped Unhas could continue to upgrade and improve the education quality both at the national and international level in order to encourage the quality of graduates.
The collaboration is related to the utilization and development of marine fishery resources, the proliferation and conservation of the resources, and the exchange and development of students and researchers.
The collaboration is expected to produce some products, such as constructing appropriate utilization and management schemes for economically important fish species and developing a series of artificial reef technology schemes that can be popularized and demonstrated.
Moreover, we will collaboratively propose to produce up to 5 patents, publish 7 academic articles, develop more innovative talents (50 professional and technical talents), and establish Research Center for marine fishery resources.
