Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., together with two delegates of The University of Rhode Island, Mr. Brook Williams Rose and Prof. Tom, held a meeting in order to discuss the continuation of cooperation for the Natural Resource and Environment (NRE) Certificate program, Master of Environmental Science Management (MESM) and Short Course.
The activity was conducted at Meeting Room A, Unhas Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Monday (07/06).
Prof. JJ as the Rector of Unhas expressed his pleasure at the collaboration between Unhas and URI. He emphasized that universities have duties and responsibilities in encouraging quality human resources. Therefore, Unhas optimally continues to make various strategic efforts in encouraging and providing a learning process and capacity building for students.
Furthermore, Prof. JJ added that the cooperation program between Unhas and URI is one part of preparing quality human resources through science and learning experiences.
“The Unhas and URI cooperation program can continue to be improved in various fields. Given programs such as NRE or student exchanges provide good results. In the future Unhas and URI can establish partnerships in various fields, “explained Prof. JJ.
Representing URI, Mr. Brook Williams Rose explained about Rhode Island’s relationship with Indonesia, especially Makassar, which has been established for a long time. Therefore, Mr. Brook said that URI has a responsibility to be involved in encouraging the improvement of the quality of resources.
“Unhas and URI have often carried out special collaboratiions in the field of inbound students and research collaboration. So, our partnership has been established for a quite long time and it of course must be maintained,” explained Mr. Brook.
After the opening, it was continued with a joint discussion on several follow-up programs that could be carried out in the near future.
