Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kementrian PAN/RB) intensely conducts a national program aimed at improving the capability of human resources, especially for Indonesian Civil Servants (ASN) who are serving at the front line in public service.
Coming from the mandate of Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kementrian PAN/RB) in achieving the objectives of the program, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) and Universitas Indonesia (UI) were given responsibility to establish collaboration with overseas partner universities in educating and developing the service culture of civil servants towards the society. New Zealand is one of the countries which has an excellent track record for public service.
Thursday morning (July 30th) in Wellington time, Rector and Trustee Board of Unhas, Prof Eko Prasojo (Dean of Faculty of Administration of UI/ Chairman of the National Independent Team for Bureaucratic Reform), and Staff of Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform met the leaders of Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), New Zealand.
In this meeting, Indonesian Representatives were welcomed by Grant Guilford (Vice-Chancellor), Ian Williamson (Pro-Vice-Chancellor), Blair McRae (Deputy Vice-Chancellor), Girol Karacaoglu (Head of School of Government) and some Professors and Staff of VUW.
Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA, representing the Minister conveyed the Ministry’s intention to increase the capacity of Indonesian Civil Servants (ASN) in Indonesia through this collaboration with Victoria University of Wellington. Unhas and UI were appointed as partners from Indonesia.
“students working as Civil servant are expected to increase their capacity through international exposure. They will be given the opportunity to continue to Double Degree Program at Unhas or UI for one year and at VUW for the other year. The program will be funded by the Indonesian Government through the LPDP Program (Institution of Educational Fund Management)” said Prof. Dwia.
On the same occasion, Prof. Eko Prasojo added that after studying at Unhas or UI, for students who choose e-government will be facilitated at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
“VUW was chosen as a partner by Ministry (Kementrian PAN/RB) based on consideration from some parties and its long experience as the best university in New Zealand with various excellent study programs, especially e-government, which becomes an international reference for learning," said Prof. Eko.
The warm meeting took place in Victoria room, Hunter Building at Kelburn Parade Campus Wellington. The meeting discussed in detail the technical operation of program implementation. It is expected that the program will begin in July 2020.
Regarding the collaboration among Unhas, UI, and VUW, Vice-chancellor of VUW, Grant Guilford, warmly welcomed this program. He expressed his gratitude on Indonesian government trust for choosing VUW as a study destination for Indonesian Civil Servant. VUW will support this tripartite collaboration by providing the best lecturers in the field of E-government.
Ministry (Kementrian PAN/RB) planned to establish the soft launching of a double degree program in Jakarta on August 21st, 2019. (*)
