Faculty of Pharmacy of Universitas Hasanuddin organized The International Seminar on Biosciences and Drugs Discovery (ISBDD) 2019. The Seminar entitled “Frontiers in Drug Discovery & Development”. It took place at Hotel Novotel Makassar, on Thursday (7/11).
Four speakers from three different countries were invited to this event. They are Prof. Habibah A Wahab (Universiti Sains Malaysia), Dr. Chris Alderman, B. Pharm, Ph.D. (University of South Australia), Prof. Hiroshi Tomoda (Kitasato University), and Associate Prof. Jalifah Latip (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia). Head of Drugs and Food Supervisory Agency of Makassar City, Drs. Abdul Rahim, Apt., M.Si, also attended the seminar.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of Universitas Hasanuddin, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A, the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Gemini Alam, M.Si., Apt. and other leaders.
The chailman of the committee of ISBDD 2019, Muhammad Aswad, mentioned in his report that this International Seminar was dedicated for invention of biosciences and drugs. Indonesia with its natural heritage and uniqueness need to explore the potential resources of traditional drugs and their ingredients, which of course must be properly preserved and developed.
“As a form of efforts to find solutions in the field of health and drugs, Faculty of Pharmacy of Unhas managed the ISBDD 2019 as a forum to share, publish, discuss, and develop the latest innovations.” Said Aswan on his speech.
Furthermore, the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy on his opening remarks said that the Faculty of Pharmacy exists to try to improve the quality of pharmaceutical science through the leadership and learning improvement and also research and community service programs.
“Two days before, we conducted workshop on Clinical Pharmacy and training for scientific publications. Hopefully, this can help us to increase our capacity in building a better pharmacy education in the future.” Said Prof. Gemini
Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dwia, delivered her warmly speech to all speakers and guests. She conveyed that The ISBDD 2019 is in line with Strategy of Unhas to take an important part in the global knowledge developments.
“We hope this can be an effort of our university to support Indonesia in dealig with problem in the field of health. In addition, The ISBDD 2019 can upgrade our insights in the field of biosciences and drugs.” Said Prof. Dwia.
She expressed her gratitude to all committees and academic community of Faculty of Pharmacy had well prepared everything, so this International seminar could be established.
Rector of Universitas Hasanuddin then officially opened the ISBDD 2019 marked by the beating of gong.(*)
