Sebanyak 66 orang mahasiswa Universitas Hasanuddin, Senin (11/7) menuju Pulau Miangas guna melaksanakan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) di pulau paling depan di Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI) tersebut. Mereka menumpang KM Dorolonda yang akan mengikuti trayek Makassar, Baubau, Namlea, Ambon, Ternate, dan Bitung.

Universitas Hasanuddin mulai tahun akademi 2016/2017 menerima mahasiswa baru Kelas Internasional untuk dua fakultas, yakni Ekonomi Bisnis (FEB) dan Kesehatan Masyarakat (FKM). Mahasiswa baru kelas internasional ini terbuka bagi para lulusan sekolah lanjutan tingkat atas (SLTA) tahun 2015 dan 2016.
Pendaftaran dibuka secara online mulai 18 hingga 22 Juli 2016. Pada tanggal 27 Juli peserta mengikuti tes potensi akademik (TPA) dan dua hari kemudian (29/7) diumumkan mereka yang lulus ujian TPA.

‘’Dilaporkan, ada yang menelepon bahwa nama yang tertera di pengumuman lulus bisa terhapus jika tidak membayar,’’ kata Junaidi, Selasa (12/7), ketika rapat pembahasan pendaftaran calon mahasiswa baru kelas internasional Fakultas Ekonomi Bisnis dan Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat yang dihadiri Wakil Rektor IV Prof. dr. Budu, Sp M., Ph.D. dan Direktur Kemitraan Internasional (DKI) Dr. Iqbal Djawad, M.Sc., Direktur Teknologi Informasi Dr. Eng. M. Nizwar, S.T., MIT, Kepala Biro Akademik Ernawati Rivai, S.E., M.M. dan sejumlah anggota panitia lainnya.
