Global Cultural Immersion Program (GCIP) 2026 – State Islamic University of Palopo (UIN Palopo)

The Global Cultural Immersion Program (GCIP) 2026, organized by the State Islamic University of Palopo (UIN Palopo), was successfully held under the theme “Exploring Luwu’s Culture through the Lens of Moderation and Ecotheology” on 11-14 June 2026. The four-day program brought together 18 participants from eight countries, including Pakistan, Thailand, Syria, and Timor-Leste, who are currently pursuing their studies at various universities across South Sulawesi.

Among the participants were four international students from Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), who joined the program under the guidance and coordination of Muh. Anugerah, S.I.Kom., International Student Management Staff at the International Office (IO UNHAS). Their participation reflected UNHAS’s commitment to fostering international engagement and meaningful intercultural learning experiences.The program was officially welcomed by Dr. Masruddin, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Rector for General Administration, Planning, and Finance (AUPK) of UIN Palopo. In his remarks, he emphasized that GCIP serves as a strategic platform for promoting the tourism potential, cultural richness, and environmental sustainability of Rongkong and the greater Luwu region to the international community, while strengthening international collaboration through educational and cultural exchanges.

Throughout the program, participants took part in cultural immersion activities, community visits, and interactive discussions focusing on religious moderation, local wisdom, and ecological awareness. Through direct engagement with local communities, they gained valuable insights into Luwu’s cultural heritage and learned how local traditions contribute to social harmony and environmental stewardship. As an academic, cultural, and ecological platform, GCIP was designed to foster meaningful dialogue among international students, local communities, academics, religious leaders, and indigenous groups. The program encouraged participants to develop a deeper appreciation for diversity, tolerance, and sustainability while building cross-cultural friendships and global understanding.

The successful implementation of GCIP 2026 not only enriched participants’ academic and cultural experiences but also reinforced North Luwu’s position as a promising destination for cultural and ecological tourism in South Sulawesi, showcasing the region’s unique local wisdom and natural beauty to a global audience.
