For the first time, the Academic Senate of Universitas Hasanuddin conducted an inaugural meeting for the newly enrolled students of Universitas Hasanuddin in Baruga Andi Pangerang Petta Rani Tamalanrea Campus, Monday (15/8), after Unhas underwent a transformation of status from a General Services Body (BLU) becoming an Autonomous Institution (PTN BH). As much as 4.972 new students from numerous faculties entered Baruga Andi Pangerang Petta Rani using white clothes, red alma mater jackets, with a representative of the new students been handed over the alma mater Unhas a symbol of welcome towards the newly enrolled students.
The representatives of the newly enrolled students were accompanied by their parents and guardians that witnessed in a direct manner, the signing of integrity pact of all academic regulations of Universitas Hasanuddin while under the status of being students. One by one the students and parents/ guardians, headed forward, pledging the vow, witnessed by Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A., Head and Members of the Board of Trustees (MWA), Head, Secretary, and Members of the Academic Senate, Head, Secretary, and Members of the Professorial Board, Vice Rectors, and University Secretary, Deans and Vice Deans of the Faculty, along with the Graduate School, Heads and Secretary of the Institutions, Heads of Bureaus, along with thousands of students.
Unhas Rector Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu one by one handed over the list of newly enrolled students to each Faculty Deans as a symbolic gesture.
Unhas Rector stated that, the accumulated figures of the newly enrolled students are 4.972 people, the result of a series of filters, and re-registration of enrollment pathways including the National Selection of Higher Level Public Educational Enrollment (SNMPTN) for 2.061 people, Joint Selection of Higher Level Public Educational Enrollment (SBMPTN) for 1.667 people, and the pathways of Independent and Sports, Cultural, and Scholarly Achievements, as well as the Affirmation Program ADIK Papua and 3T.
“In 2016, through the SNMPTN enrollment pathway, Unhas attracted the interests of 34.842 registrants, 73.331 SBMPTN registrants, Independent and POSK as much as 10.450 registrants. Unhas this year thus became the third most popular higher education institution in Indonesia,” stated Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu that was greeted warmly by the new students that filled up the overall seats in Baruga.
Dwia further echoed the fact that, the societal interests especially new student prospectus of Unhas are high in figures. The rise of those interested in enrolling to Unhas reflects a firm indication that Unhas contains a substantial opportunity in educating the nation’s next generations, including those that were present in the Baruga Andi Pangerang Petta Rani that time.
“I hope you are all able to make good use of your time during the academic years of the university. I hope that all can complete their studies both with great qualifications, and a timely manner. You have a firm moral responsibility not to disappoint those you have defeated in the competition of university enrollment,” ended Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu that opened her remarks with a poem.
