Pendolo Village is one of the five locations for the Thematic Community Service Program NKRI Poso Universitas Hasanuddin, precisely located at the Sub-District South Pamona, Poso Regency. The majority of the villagers are non-Muslim, though some are Muslim. During a conflict a couple of years ago, many of the villagers chose to leave the village and find a safer refuge for their family.
The lives of the Muslim minority in the village is yet one that is of delight if based upon the Islamic facilities available such as mosques. To conduct prays alone, they must go to the mosque located in the neighboring village, approximately 5 km from the Pendolo Village. The mosques were the victim of the conflicts that happened, as it was burnt, leading to substantial physical damage. Among them are holes in the roof, peeled of paints, moss filled in the mosque tower, even to cracks located in many parts of the mosque itself.
Not only that, Al-Quran, Iqra, Islamic books, praying clothes such as mukenah, was not found in the mosque. Other essential facilities such as places for wudhu (men and women), toilets, to the marbot/Imam mosque platform, was not present.
Other matters include the absence of water, therefore to conduct wudhu or toilet, must be done in village residence located closeby. The mosque was activated back in January 2016 for 5-time prayers, and sometimes for Friday Prayers (depending on the conducive state of Poso that time).
Therefore, we from Posko 3 located in the Pendolo village want to make the people realize the essence of bringing back alive the Islamic conducts, and return the mosque functions. We ask for the kind assistances for our Muslim brothers and sisters of Pendolo Village in the shape of donations including Al-Quran, Iqra, mukenah, praying mat, and separating curtain for men and women, that can be sent to Jln. Pelabuhan Lama No.25, Dusun 1 RT 1 under the name of Hengki Mandang.
