Blueprint of the national self-supporting food advancement is formulated in Universitas Hasanuddin, Tuesday (13/12) in the Meeting Room of LKPP Unhas. The Eastern Indonesian Higher Education Institution Consortium initiated the event during the Coordination Meeting in Universitas Mulawarman, 11 November. During the event, it was to a consensus that the ‘tridarma’ of higher education institution of all Eastern Indonesia must focus towards the program of the national self-supporting food program.
Unhas Rector, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA in her remarks supported in full the advancements for the national self-supporting food blueprint. “As the leading higher education institution in Eastern Indonesia, Unhas will work to contribute to the issues that the state faces, such as the crucial matter of food supply,” stated Dwia.
Since 2015, the Rector continued, Unhas has assisted the Ministry of Agriculture is the conduct of numerous programs that support the government policies. “There are accompaniment programs to increase the production of rice, corn, and others. There are also the development and strengthening of the Independent Seed Village program. Furthermore, there are surveys and designs for new paddy fields in the South Sulawesi Province,” Dwia specified.
29 higher education institutions attended the event entitled the National Concept Strengthening for Self-Supporting Food, from all Eastern Indonesia. The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Sumbangan Baja, M.Sc. stated, the event would produce a grand design in achieving the concept of national self-supporting food, which would be reported to the Ministry of Agriculture. “The concept would focus upon 7 major commodities, including rice, corn, soy, chili, onion, cane, and cow,” he elaborated.
Present in the occasion was the Head of KPTN-KTI that also is the Rector of Universitas Mulawarman, Prof. Dr. Masjaya, M.Si., and the Executive Director of KPTN-KTI, Dr. A. Ilham Mahmud.
