Eliminate the Culture of “Cheating”

Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Agus Raharjo stated that if we observe the tracks of the nation, based on its Gross Domestic Product, Indonesia is among the top 15 in the world. A couple of days ago, an Australian economist in predicted that if Indonesia is able to maintain this momentum, it would be possible to see Indonesia being positioned as the fourth strongest economy in the world.

“But those that would feel such developments are our juniors of 20-30 year old,” stated Agus Raharjo during his remarks for the Corruption Festival and Anti-Corruption Dialogue conducted by the Faculty of Law Unhas, in the Baruga Andi Petta Rani Tamalanrea Campus, Monday (24/10/2016).

Besides the Head of KPK, the MPR RI Chairman Zulkifli Hasan also commemorated the event through the ceremonial hitting of a drum along with the Unhas Rector Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, witnessed by the Constitutional Court of RI Arief Hidayat that was also present with the Head of KPK, Agus Rajarjo.

Agus Raharjo stated that to advance the progress of the societal welfare, there is no other method besides the elimination of any form of corruption in this country.

“Let us produce alumni with character, morality, and integrity, as the Unhas Rector stated in her remarks beforehand,” stated Agus Raharjo that was present with the secretary general of KPK.

He further stated that the students must keep practicing and cannot directly become a person with integrity. For example the culture of cheating must be eliminated, as it creates the seeds and cultures that we need to stay away from. If you become part of a committee in campus, the event must be held responsible for.

Agus Raharjo also gave the message to Unhas rector and all of the university structures to conduct education that is accountable and transparent. Head of the KPK also hoped that Unhas would have a specific study center on anti-corruption such as what UGM has adopted (Center of Anti-Corruption –  PUKAT) and Unpad.

According to Agus, KPK comprises of two major tasks that include prevention and response towards corruption. Actions have never stopped. Until now there are 17 governors that have become suspects. But what is also crucial to conduct is prevention.
