The research result on the Megalitik culture of South Sulawesi indicates that the culture has spread expansively becoming the foundations of Bugis, Makassar, Mandar, and Toraja cultures.
“Archeological records on the megalitik cultures based on the technologies of creation, function, and meanings attached, reflects values that relates to the richness of nature and science, adaptation capacity and local wisdom, tenacity, excellence, bravery, taste of beauty, togetherness as a form of family and community solidarity, dignity, justice, existence and identity, patriotism, agricultural aspect, social, religion, history, culture, philosophy, adaptive, and science,” stated Prof. Dr. Akin Duli, M.A. during his professorial promotion oration ceremony in the field of Archeology, Faculty of Literature Unhas, Thursday (3/11/2016).
In his oration entitled “Megalitik Culture in South Sulawesi, Early Civilization and Its Role in the Construction of Character and National Identity,” the man that was born in Kumila Luwu 16 July 1964 stated, though the megalitik culture is well known since hundreds of years before century, their communities continued to embrace Islam, even to this very modern day.
