Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) through the Healthy Program and the Campus Occupational Health and safety Division, organized an International Workshop: Strengthening Medical Check-Up (MCU) Services under the UNHAS Healthy Program in collaboration with Mahkota Medical Centre Malaysia, held at the UNHAS Hotel & Convention.

This event is part of UNHAS’s commitment to strengthen modern, comprehensive, and internationally standardized campus health services. Through this workshop, UNHAS promotes the development of MCU services that focus not only on routine examinations but also on promotive and preventive efforts to sustainably maintain the health of the academic community including lecturers, students and university’s staff.
This MCU program is part of the UNHAS Health Program initiated by the UNHAS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. It is implemented by Division III, specifically the Directorate of Human Resources, through the Sub-Directorate of Occupational health and safety in collaboration with the UNHAS Teaching Hospital.

The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Human Resources, Alumni, and Information Systems, Prof. Dr. Farida Patittingi, S.H., M.Hum.,. The workshop was attended by the representatives from Mahkota Medical Centre Malaysia, namely Dr. Ram Kumar, Dr. Shum Weng Yoon, and Ms. Norhayati Ahmad. The presence of these leaders and speakers serves as a tangible manifestation of international collaboration aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare services within the university environment.
During the event, speakers from Mahkota Medical Centre shared the hospital’s experiences and innovations in developing technology-based Medical Check-Up (MCU) services and patient-centered care. Participants gained insights into the importance of MCU as an initial step for early detection of various health risks, regular monitoring of physical condition, and support for improving quality of life.
The modern MCU services introduced in this workshop not only cover basic examinations but also screenings for the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, kidney disorders, digestive health, and evaluations of lifestyle and mental health. This approach is considered highly relevant in supporting the creation of a healthy, productive, and responsive campus environment that addresses individual health needs.

In addition, Mahkota Medical Centre also offers opportunities for strategic collaboration through a health and leisure membership card program designed for the UNHAS academic community. Through this program, participants can enjoy various benefits and advantages, such as priority access to healthcare services, discounts on medical check-ups, and additional amenities that enhance patient comfort during their medical examinations in Malaysia.
This card program also provides added value in the form of easy access to cross-border services, including administrative support, medical service information, and the potential for integration with campus health programs. This initiative is a concrete example of strengthening international collaboration to provide more inclusive, accessible, and globally standardized healthcare services for the UNHAS academic community.
The workshop was interactive and met with great enthusiasm from the participants. The ensuing discussions fostered an exchange of ideas regarding the development of campus health services, ideal medical check-up standards, and opportunities for further collaboration in the field of international health. The event was also skillfully facilitated by Wahyuni Aras, S.AP., M.I.Kom., who served as the master of ceremonies, ensuring the event remained orderly, warm, and communicative throughout.
In this workshop, UNHAS hopes to strengthen the implementation of the UNHAS Sehat Program (Healthy UNHAS Program) as part of campus development that prioritizes the health, safety, and well-being of the academic community. This event is expected to serve as a strategic step toward realizing higher-quality, easily accessible MCU services that are focused on early disease prevention.
