The Master of Public Administration (MAP) Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), in collaboration with the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies (FSPP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, successfully organized an international academic event entitled the International Colloquium on Policy and Governance at the UiTM Shah Alam Campus, Malaysia, on 4 June 2026.
The colloquium, held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. local time, served as a strategic platform for both institutions to disseminate innovative ideas and recent research findings in the fields of governance and public policy.
During the research presentation sessions, the UNHAS delegation presented several significant studies. The session commenced with a presentation by Andi Rahmat Hidayat, a doctoral candidate at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, who discussed the challenges and opportunities of local policies concerning decentralization and the governance of indigenous community lands.
MAP UNHAS students also contributed to the academic discussions through presentations of their research projects. Nailah Zayyan and Erick Fathur Rachman presented a study examining the effectiveness of the Solata’ Boss application in enhancing investment services in Makassar City. This was followed by a presentation from Widi Alviana and Anantasya Putri, who analyzed community economic development through agricultural cooperatives in Mokupa Village.
The colloquium was further enriched by the participation of two distinguished scholars from FSPP UiTM, Prof. Yarina Ahmad and Dr. Mahadir, who shared valuable insights into regional policy dynamics and governance issues.
Following the presentation sessions, participants engaged in an intensive discussion focusing on strengthening strategic cooperation between FISIP UNHAS and FSPP UiTM. The discussion centered on the initiation of collaborative research projects among faculty members and the development of student exchange programs involving both undergraduate and postgraduate students. These initiatives represent concrete efforts to advance internationalization and enhance the quality of education at both universities.
The International Colloquium on Policy and Governance reflects the shared commitment of UNHAS and UiTM to fostering academic excellence, strengthening international partnerships, and generating impactful research that contributes to the advancement of governance and public policy in the region.
