Strengthening its international academic collaborations, the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), held an International Class Guest Lecture for the Clinical Medical Sciences Course. The session featured Prof. Naoya Kakimoto, DDS, Ph.D., Dean and Professor of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at Hiroshima University, Japan, as the distinguished guest lecturer.
The lecture, entitled “Radiation Therapy for Oral Cancer,” was held on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WITA at the Molar Room, Faculty of Dentistry, UNHAS. The session attracted enthusiastic participation from international class students, regular undergraduate students, and dental residents, reflecting a strong interest in gaining insights from a renowned international expert in oral and maxillofacial radiology.
The event was also attended by drg. Erni Marlina, Ph.D., Sp.PM., Subsp.Inf(K), Vice Dean for Partnerships, Research, Innovation, and Alumni of the FKG UNHAS. In her remarks, she highlighted the significance of international academic collaboration in enhancing students’ educational experiences and expanding opportunities for global engagement. She also expressed her appreciation to Prof. Kakimoto and Hiroshima University for their continued support in strengthening academic and research cooperation between the two institutions.

During the lecture, Prof. Kakimoto delivered a comprehensive overview of radiation therapy as one of the primary treatment modalities for oral cancer. The presentation was followed by an interactive discussion session, during which participants actively engaged with the speaker through questions and academic exchanges on contemporary approaches to oral cancer management.
The guest lecture aimed to broaden students’ and residents’ understanding of oral oncology while providing exposure to international perspectives in clinical dental and medical sciences. Furthermore, the activity served as a platform for strengthening the academic partnership between UNHAS and Hiroshima University, paving the way for future collaborations in education, research, and academic exchange.
