An Expert from Australia, Profesor Armando Apan, attended and gave a public lecturer at Graduate School of Unhas. The public lecturer entitled "Application of Remote Sensing and GIS in Environmental Management and Agricultural” was held on Friday, August 9th, 2019 at 09.30 WITA (Eastern Indonesian Time).
The public lecture was established by Study program of Regional Planning and Development of Graduate School collaborating with Study program agricultural engineering of faculty of agriculture.
Remote Sensing Applications and Geographic Information System (GIS) are considered important to enhance the knowledge of participants. This application can be used in many fields, including Agriculture, therefore, the development of this application can enrich the scientific information, especially students who study agricultural sciences.
"This topic discusses the application of GIS which is used in various fields of science, such as the environment and agriculture. This material will certainly enhance knowledge to the participants, especially for students and researchers," explained Daniel Useng, from the department of agricultural engineering.
Prof. Armando Apan was very enthusiastic and delightful with the enthusiasm of participants. Various questions were asked, so he was eager to answer every question given.
“I am very excited about giving this material because all participants are enthusiastic. I hope to come back here again to give another lecture,” Said Prof. Armandi.
In the public lecture, the discussed topics were related to the basics of remote sensing, the basic principles of the use of GIS, applications in environmental management, and applications in the agricultural field.
This public lecture was attended by more than 60 participants, consisting of lecturers and researches, Faculty of Agricultural Students, Graduate students of Regional Development, and Doctoral students of Agricultural sciences. It ended at 11.30 WITA.(*)
