In the presence of Indonesian Language, the local language can be said is less popular, but in the presence of English, Indonesian language is precisely has no power. Looking at to the fact that from time to time, Indonesian language has managed to take over the role of the local language as a first language used by children in community.
'' It is not only happen in major cities, but it also happens in the capitals of districts and even villages, '' said Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Darwis, M.S. in Tanete Rilau High School in Barru District, Saturday (28/05/2016).
Prof. Muhammad Darwis together with his team from Literature Department, Faculty of Humanities Unhas conducted this 2-day-community service activities. In this activities, Professor Darwis appeared to bring the lecture around the topic of 'Background Problems, objectives, and benefits of research’. After that Dr. Nurhayati, M.Hum present the lecture with the title 'Topics and Titles of Essay'.
Other lecture titles such as: Writing Techniques for Academic work was delivered by Prof. Dr. Tadjuddin Maknun, S.U, Preparation of Authorship Framework was delivered by Prof. Dr. Lukman, M.S., Preparation of Literature presented by Dr. Indirati Lewa, Hum, and Writing Quote, References and Bibliography was delivered by Dr. Ikhwan M. Said, M. Hum.
Darwis argued in his presentation that English has increasingly dominated and it almost get rid of Indonesian language. This perhaps have an impact on Indonesian language which is known as symbol of identity and national pride becomes only slogan this time.
'' We cannot just let the Indonesian language goes with the flow. We need to manage this so that the Indonesian language can still exist and their existence cannot be influenced by other languages.That is what we need to do, because here we are, the Nusantara of Indonesia, '' Muhammad Darwis added in a series Extension Language, Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Humanities UNHAS in Barru District.
Head of Committee for Community Service, Department of Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Humanities UNHAS, Dr. Asriani Abbas, M.Hum accompanied by Chairman and Secretary of the Department Dr. ABTakko Bandung, and Dra. Nursa'adah Hum, Hum, explained after executing their activities in Tanete Rilau High School, the group proceeded with a study tour to the Pancana Village on Sunday (29/5).
