The Australian Consulate General in Makassar Visits Hasanuddin Univesity to Discuss the Development of Cooperation Projects

Rector of Hasanuddin University welcomed the visit of The Australian Consulate General in Makassar led by Mr. Todd Dias, (Consul General of Australia in Makassar). The meeting took place in the Rector’s Meeting Room on the 8th Floor of the Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus, at 13.30 WITA, Wednesday (10/01).

The main agenda of this meeting was to discuss the collaborative initiatives of the Partnership for Australia-Indonesia Research (PAIR) Sulawesi project with the collaboration of the Australia-Indonesia Center (AIC), the Australian Student Alumni Association (IKAMA). Another agenda was to prepare for the visit of the Minister Counsellor from the Australian Embassy, with special focus on the KONEKSI program.

KONEKSI, as a collaborative initiative in the knowledge and innovation sector, aims to support partnerships between Australian and Indonesian organizations for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies.

Supported by the Australian and Indonesian Governments, the Program promotes equitable knowledge partnerships and leverages local knowledge to address socio-economic challenges.

In the discussion, Prof. Dr. Eng. Adi Maulana, S.T., M.Phil. (the Vice-Rector for Partnership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Business), Prof. Ir. Sumbangan Baja, M.Phill., Ph.D. (University Secretary), Dr. Alex Stephens from the Consulate General in Makassar, Hasnawati Saleh, MSc., Ph.D., Coordinating PAIR Program (Partnership for Australia-Indonesia Research), and Prof. Dr. Yusring Sanusi Baso, S.S., M.App.Ling (Lecturer of Faculty of Cultural Sciences).

On this occasion, the Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., in his remarks said that through the PAIR Sulawesi project not only bridging two countries, but we build a knowledge network that connects people, ideas and inspiration.

“Through PAIR Sulawesi, we can make an infinite contribution to the development of science, technology and innovation, and encourage sustainable socio-economic growth in both countries,” Prof. JJ explained.

Mr. Todd Dias, Consul General of Australia in Makassar, expressed his excitement for the good relationship established. This visit is not just a meeting, but a concrete step in strengthening bilateral relations in education and innovation.

Furthermore, the visit deepened the discussion on the development of cooperation programs that will be established between Hasanuddin University and the Australian government. In this meeting, the main focus was to specify the design of cooperation programs that would provide maximum benefits for both parties.

Ensuring that the cooperation program designed not only meets current educational and research needs, but also has a long-term positive impact.

The active involvement of both Unhas and the Australian government becomes the key to success in creating sustainable and meaningful cooperation.
