The activity was carried out virtually through the zoom meeting application on Friday (29/10). The material presented in this webinar was delivered directly by speakers from Japan, namely Moriyama Yoshifumi (General Manager Exercise Therapy for Dialysis Patients Management Kaikoukai Healthcare Group) and Kawai Cheiko (General Manager Home Medical Care Kaikoukai Healthcare Group).

Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships, Faculty of Nursing Unhas, Syahrul Said, S.Kep.,Ns., M.Kes.,Ph.D., said that the webinar was expected to provide new insights regarding the concept of sports therapy and primary care for the caregiver. These concepts are based on the experience applied in Japan so that the webinar participants could use the concept independently.

This community service was conducted based on the condition that people’s intensity was still relatively low, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his presentation, Moriyama Yoshifumi provided the importance of sports therapy and its impact on the quality of one’s health. Exercise is very crucial in preventing the occurrence of sarcopenia, premature ageing and can improve mental health.

In the second session, Kawai Cheiko delivered a material entitled the primary care for caregivers intended for the older people that can be done at home. It plays an essential role in maintaining the life quality of those people, especially in caregiving during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The care given is specialized on the mobilization technique or how to move actively. Kawai Cheiko also explained the ambulation technique that is undoubtedly crucial for families during the pandemic considering the caregivers play an active role in assisting family members.
