Unhas Celebrates Graduate Achievements and Global Ambitions

Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held a grand graduation ceremony for its undergraduate, vocational, masters degree, doctoral, specialist, and professional programs on April 10-11, 2025. The event, hosted at the Baruga A.P. Pettarani Building on the Tamalanrea Campus, marked a significant milestone for thousands of students transitioning into the next phase of their careers.

A Commitment to Timely Graduation

Monitoring Academic Progress

In his opening address, Prof. Muhammad Ruslin, Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, highlighted Unhas’ intensified efforts to monitor and evaluate students’ academic progress. The university has implemented systematic measures to reduce delayed graduations, ensuring students complete their studies efficiently.

By August 2024, 11,927 students had not graduated on time. However, through close collaboration with faculties and study programs, this number decreased by 42.54% to 6,853 by April 2025. The university aims for at least 80% of these students to graduate before the start of the 2025/2026 academic year.

“Our monitoring system is closely tied to the national diploma verification process through PISN, which is strictly regulated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology,” Prof. Ruslin explained.

Celebrating Student Achievements

Beyond academic milestones, Unhas students have excelled in competitions at provincial, national, and international levels. In the first three months of 2025 alone, students secured 64 medals across various disciplines, involving 125 participants.

Preparing Graduates for a Global Future

Strengthening International Networks

Rector Prof. J.J. emphasized the importance of preparing graduates for global challenges. Unhas has actively expanded its international presence, forming nearly 500 partnerships across more than 30 countries. The university also participates in over 20 global research consortia, including the Partnership for Australia-Indonesia Research (PAIR), where Unhas serves as the Anchor Institution.

“As Unhas graduates, you should take pride in your alma mater. This pride is not arrogance—it is the foundation of confidence, knowing you come from one of the strongest institutions in Eastern Indonesia, now recognized among the nation’s best,” Prof. J.J. stated.

Advancing Masters Degree and Research Programs

The university’s School of Postgraduate Studies saw 66 graduates, reflecting Unhas’ commitment to advancing higher education. Through strategic international collaborations, Unhas ensures its masters degree programs meet global standards, equipping graduates with competitive skills.
