MAKASSAR – The Professional Certification Body (LSP) of Hasanuddin University held the Competency Assessor Training and Certification, Batch IX. The activity was attended by 24 prospective assessors from three faculties: the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, and the Faculty of Engineering. It took place at Aston Hotel on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.
The Head of the Professional Certification Center/Professional Certification Body (LSP) of Unhas, Ir. Mukti Ali, said the training aims to increase the number of assessors while ensuring that human resources are ready to carry out competency assessments professionally in line with applicable standards.
“Besides increasing the number of assessors, this activity also ensures that prospective assessors have the methodological ability and capability to carry out competency assessments, both at the Unhas LSP and when assigned by other LSPs,” said Mukti Ali.
Mukti added that increasing the number of assessors is an important need as the Unhas LSP plans to expand its competency certification schemes. The additional schemes are expected to widen certification services for students and graduates, while also supporting their readiness to enter the workforce.
One of the Unhas LSP’s long-term targets is to encourage graduates not only to earn an academic degree, but also to hold a competency certificate that matches their field of expertise.
“With the support of university leaders and all stakeholders, we hope competency certification can become an important part of preparing graduates for the demands of the workforce,” said Mukti.
At present, the Unhas LSP has 65 verified certification schemes. Of these, 55 schemes are active, while the other 10 are still in the process of meeting information and requirements to support their implementation.
Meanwhile, Master Assessor Sari Wahyuni explained that the competency assessor training is conducted under technical guidelines that apply nationally. The materials and training process are designed to comply with the established provisions, including the latest regulations that serve as guidelines for competency assessor training.
Participants not only take part in a series of lessons, but are also prepared to meet the requirements for taking part in the assessment as prospective assessors. In this process, participants will receive guidance in completing their portfolios and ensuring that the basic requirements are met.
“We hope all participants can complete the training well and will later be recommended to take the prospective assessor assessment. We will accompany participants so that their portfolios and all required documents can be fulfilled,” said Wahyuni.
The training, which lasts approximately 48 hours, is divided into four days of sessions. By adding assessors, the Unhas LSP continues to strengthen its institutional capacity to expand competency certification services for students and graduates of Hasanuddin University. The activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (quality education) and SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth. (*/ams)
