Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) accompanied a delegation from The University of Rhode Island (URI) to do historical tourism in Maros Regency. DWP Unhas chaired by Hartati Tamti Jamaluddin Jompa accompanied the URI Delegation led by Mary Parlange (First Lady of The URI) to visit the Leang-Leang archaeological historical tourism area, Maros Regency, Thursday, on January 19, 2023
On this occasion, Hartati conveyed that DWP UNHAS formed a committee and planned to visit several interesting tours in Maros Regency after obtaining news regarding the visit of the URI delegation. The tours aim of introducing interesting tourist destinations that have Indonesian history.
“We used this opportunity to introduce the history of South Sulawesi and due to time constraints, we invited them to Maros. Hopefully next time we can see the beauty of other South Sulawesi,” explained Hartati.
DWP UNHA group gave an explanation related to the archaeological history found in the Leang-Leang Tourism Park. Mary and other URI delegates were very happy to make the visit. According to her, the visit provided new information and knowledge while displaying the beauty of archaeological sites in Maros.
In addition to visiting the Leang-Leang archaeological tourism area, DWP UNHAS also invited URI delegates to visit the Bantimurung tourist area and see the process of breeding butterflies by local residents.
