The Faculty of Dentistry of University Hasanuddin held the 11th International Dental Scientific Meeting (TIIKG) and The 3rd International Conference on Biophysical Technology in Dentistry (ICoBTD) 2020 at the Claro Hotel, Makassar, on Wednesday (19/02).
On this occasion, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Dentistry Council (Prof. drg. Armasastra Bahar, Ph.D), Chair of the Indonesian Faculty of Dentistry Association (represented by the Dean of The Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Trisakti, Prof. Dr. Tri. Erri Astoeti, M.Kes ), and 26 main speakers various institutions.
The chairperson of the 11th TIIKG Committee, drg. Acing Habibie Mude, Ph.D., reported that the meeting is a routine activity every two years. It means that it has been two decades that international dental scientists meet regularly.
At the 11th meeting, more than 180 papers were received by the committee. Meanwhile, there were almost 900 participants registered. In addition, this event was also established with exhibitions from 54 dental equipment companies from all over Indonesia.
“The committee hopes that this activity can contribute to the development of dentistry science, both in Indonesia and in the world,” said drg. Acing at the end of the report.
Dean of The Faculty of Dentistry of Unhas, drg. Muhammad Ruslin., M. Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM (K) in his remarks, stated that the 11th TIIKG and The 3rd ICoBTD were the major missions of the Faculty of Dentistry in supporting Unhas to become World Class University. The Faculty of Dentistry of Unhas needs to take massive digitalization in response to the industrial revolution 4.0.
“Participants came from many countries. We hope with this diversity, we can share ideas, knowledge, and experience, to discuss and create strategies to face challenges we face nowadays,” explained drg. Ruslin.
Before closing his remarks, drg. Ruslin thanked the Rector of Unhas for giving full support to The Faculty of Dentistry and the Organizing Committee. He also thanked the committee who worked hard for the success of the activity.
The Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A gave a warm welcome to all presenters and participants. Prof. Dwia said that Unhas is one of the higher institutions in Indonesia which also has a role in increasing competitiveness in the global economy.
“Our main strategy is to improve the quality and relevance of research activities, including actively holding national and international seminars,” said Prof. Dwia.
Through meetings and conferences, Unhas hopes that this will be a step to contribute to the world through our branding, namely Communiversity and Humaniversity. In addition, through this activity, it is hoped that participants can increase their knowledge in the field of dentistry technology.
After the opening ceremony, the launching of two textbooks was published by the Dental Education Institute (IPDG), namely:
1. Public Dental Health, with contributors drg. Ayub Irmadani Anwar, M.MedEd
2. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Theory, and Practice. Editor: drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M. Kes, Ph.D, SpBM (K) and drg. Wiwiek Pudjiastoeti, M.Kes, SpBM, with contributors from the Indonesian Dentistry Education Institution.
The 11th International Dental Scientific Meeting (TIIKG) and The 2020 International Conference on Biophysical Technology in Dentistry (ICoBTD) will take place until February 21, 2020. (*)
