Hasanuddin University Faculty of Medicine (FK Unhas) held an International Conference entitled “Technology Enhanced Medical Education (THEME) 2022”. The activity which carries the theme “Technology Update in Medical Education Biomedical Research and Health Service” took place on Thursday (17/11) to Saturday (19/11) at the Claro Hotel Makassar.
Also attending the activity was the Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and his staff. In this activity, there were 17 speakers from various countries such as Han Aarts (Maastricht University, The Netherlands), Patrick Kwan (Monash University, Australia), Olle Ten Cate (Utrecht University, The Netherlands), Osama Ahmed Shawki (Cairo University, Egypt), Hamzaini Abdul Hamid (Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM), Malaysia), Mazaya Bt Mahmud (Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia) and so on.
Dr. dr. Rina Masadah, Sp.PA (K), DFM, as Chairman of the Committee explained that this conference is a routine agenda of FK Unhas by presenting renowned speakers from various countries. The participants who attended also presented original articles related to the conference theme, but still within the framework of medical education technology including poster presentations and oral presentations.
“Technological developments are very important for the progress of the health system so that we hope that this THEME seminar can help the readiness of health workers in the future,” Dr. Rina Masadah.
The activity was officially opened by the Rector of Unhas Prof. JJ, who in his remarks explained the importance of exchanging information about technological developments in the health sector, especially in the current pandemic era. He hopes that this activity can broaden insights into technological advances in education and research in the field of medicine.
“FK Unhas chose a very relevant topic for this THEME conference. So that every health worker can be better prepared to face a pandemic or other conditions that can help the community in the future, “explained Prof. JJ.
After the opening, it was then continued with the presentation of the speakers’ material. Prof. Han Aarts as one of the speakers explained that technological innovation globally has an impact on improving health services. He gave his appreciation for the implementation of THEME as a forum for exchanging information.
“The development of technology in the health sector is very rapid. We must all be able to keep up with these developments in improving knowledge and health services,” said Han Aarts.
In general, THEME was organized in an effort to discuss the integration of technology and medical education. Various topics on the latest technology applied in the world of medical education were discussed by experienced experts in their fields.
