The activity presented Chendani Budhi, the presentative of EducationUSA Makassar, as the speaker. It took place at 09.00 WITA in the Senate Room, 2nd Floor of the Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, Tuesday (04/10).
The activity was officially opened by Andi Masyita Irwan, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep., Ph.D., as the Head of the International Affairs Office. In her remarks, she conveyed her deep gratitude for the generosity of the speaker to share information and valuable experiences, especially on the topic being discussed. She also said that the main purpose of this activity was to give people who wanted to study abroad knowledge and information.
“There will be two sections for today’s event. The first section is specifically intended for lecturers, followed by the second section, which is mainly for students. It is deeply expected that this activity can assist the students or those willing to apply for a scholarship to produce a better-quality essay so that they can have the potential to be the scholarship awardees,” explained Masyita.
After the official opening, the activity immediately continued to the material presentation of the speaker. On this occasion, Chendani also provided an overview of EducationUSA. She explained that EducationUSA is an educational network generated by the US department that already has over 400 consulting centres in over 170 countries. In more detail, this network is committed to promoting the diversity of US higher education to help international students find the higher education institution in the US that best suits their needs, skills, and campus destinations.
Moving onto the main presentation, Chendani explained the importance of writing a good essay, which she said is one of the essential conditions to being a potential candidate for the scholarship being applied for. The essay is counted by the university to learn more about the candidate’s profile in terms of the way they think and plan ahead. Besides, a quality essay indicates the candidate’s ability to be adaptable to any kind of instruction.
“To produce good writing, you have to bestow extra time to practice it, especially in the area of having a better understanding of the outlines that are in line with the theme you are working on. Just focus on escalating your writing ability and ignore any negativity that could hinder you from improving yourself. Another important thing to count on is to practice yourself to provide conclusions on the issue you are writing about to portray more meaningful and valuable writing content.” Added Chendani.
The material presentation was followed by a discussion and a Q&A session. All participants who took part in the activities, both lecturers and students, actively asked questions and provided inputs related to the discussion topic. The entire session of the event ran well until 12.00 WITA.
