Study at Hasanuddin University in Makassar, Indonesia: degree programmes, exchanges, and short programmes for students from around the world.

International students study at Unhas at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level. In the 2026/2027 academic year, 81 new international students from 14 countries joined its postgraduate programmes.

Degree programmes

Bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes are listed on the Study Program page. Several undergraduate programmes also run as an International Class, taught in English.

Exchange and Erasmus+

Students from partner universities can study at Unhas through exchange agreements and Erasmus+ mobility, or join virtual exchanges such as the one with Okayama University.

Summer and cultural programmes

Short programmes include the Indonesia–Japan SDGs Summer Program and the International Cultural Program, which explores the maritime culture of South Sulawesi.

Learning Indonesian

The Language Service Unit teaches Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA), which supports international students during their studies.

How to apply

International applicants register online through the Foreign Student Registration form at regpmb.unhas.ac.id. The portal shows the pathways open for the current intake and the registration procedure for each level, from bachelor’s to doctoral.

Create an account on the Foreign Student Registration form, select an open pathway, and follow the procedure for your level of study.

Exchange and short programmes

Exchange, summer, and cultural programmes have their own calls for applications. Accepted participants join a pre-arrival orientation run by the International Office before they travel.

A campus for students from around the world

At the 4th International Student Festival in August 2026, more than 40 international students from Timor-Leste, Tanzania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Jordan, Palestine, and other countries introduced their cultures to new Unhas students.

Scholarships and support

KNB Scholarship

Unhas hosts students funded by the Indonesian government’s Developing Countries Partnership Scholarship (KNB).

Immigration and safety briefings

The International Office holds briefings on Indonesian immigration rules and personal safety. Nearly two hundred international students attended the February 2026 session.

Life in South Sulawesi

Through the host family programme, international students have spent Ramadan with local families in Barru Regency.
