Eligibility Requirements for Hasanuddin University Staff Members Participating in the Erasmus + Staff Mobility Programme with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

To ensure a successful and productive short course experience at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), the following eligibility criteria and requirements must be met by staff members from Hasanuddin University who wish to participate in this programme:

Purpose of training

Staff members can qualify for funding when the aim of the training is to acquire new professional skills or knowledge that will contribute to their teaching, research, or administrative capacity. Examples include:

  • Job shadowing.
  • Attending workshops, seminars, or specialized courses.
  • Participating in international staff training weeks.
  • Engaging in collaborative projects with VU Amsterdam faculty.

Note: Attending an international conference as the sole purpose of mobility does not qualify as training under this programme.

Duration of Mobility

The short course at VU Amsterdam will last 15 days , including travel days (?). However:

  • Funding support will only cover activities during the first 10 working days of the mobility period.
  • Travel days are excluded from the funded duration.

 

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for participation, staff members must meet the following requirements:

  • Position: Applicants must hold a permanent or fixed-term contract as academic or administrative staff at Hasanuddin University.
  • Academic Qualification: Applicants must possess at least a Master’s degree (S2). Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong academic potential and professional commitment.
  • Future Study Plans: Applicants must have a clear intention to pursue further studies abroad (e.g., PhD or postgraduate programs) in the near future. This mobility program is designed to support their preparation and enhance their readiness for international academic environments.
  • Networking Goals: Participants are expected to establish and maintain international networks with faculty members and staff at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. These connections should contribute to strengthening collaborative research, teaching, or institutional partnerships between both universities.
  • Relevance: The proposed training must align with the applicant’s current role and responsibilities within the university, as well as their long-term career development goals.
  • Commitment: Participants must demonstrate a clear commitment to sharing the acquired knowledge and skills upon returning to Hasanuddin University. This includes delivering workshops, seminars, or integrating new methodologies into their teaching or research practices.
  • Language Proficiency: Adequate proficiency in English is required to fully engage in the training activities at VU Amsterdam. Proof of language competency (e.g., TOEFL/IELTS scores or equivalent) may be requested during the selection process.
  • Approval: Prior approval from the respective faculty head or department chair is mandatory before submission of the application.

 

Required Documentation

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  1. Short Training Programme Proposal: Signed by both Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Hasanuddin University. Includes detailed information on: Aims and objectives of the mobility; Planned activities during the stay.; Expected outcomes and added value for the participant and institution.
  2. Grant Agreement: Outlines all terms and conditions related to the mobility, including financial arrangements.
  3. Letter of Motivation : Written by the applicant, explaining how the training aligns with their professional development goals and benefits Hasanuddin University.

 

Grant Support

Participants will receive individual support in the form of a daily allowance and travel reimbursement based on the guidelines below:

Daily Allowance

The amount depends on the country of the receiving institution (the Netherlands): €90 per day for stays in the Netherlands.

Travel Allowance

Travel allowance is determined based on the distance between Makassar (Hasanuddin University) and Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). Base on the European Commission’s online distance calculator to determine the exact distance, Distance between Makassar, Indonesia and the Amsterdam, Netherlands is 12.104,44 km. The rate of travel allowance for distance 8,000 km or more : €1,735 per participant.

Payment Process

  1. The grant will be transferred directly to the relevant faculty or department at Hasanuddin University.
  2. The faculty or department is responsible for settling payments with the participant according to internal policies.
  3. Erasmus+ funding cannot be used to cover costs previously financed by other European funds (e.g., Strategic Partnerships).
