KFW-Funded Unhas Hospital Project Successfully Completed
On Tuesday, January 31, the Rector of Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., symbolically received the keys to the newly developed Unhas Teaching Hospital facilities. This milestone marks the completion of a collaborative project between Unhas and KFW, Germany’s development bank. The handover ceremony took place at the EF Building, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar.
Attendees included the Vice Rector for Planning, Development, and Finance (Prof. Subehan, S.Si., M.Pharm., Sc., Ph.D., Apt), Head of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Prof. Dr. Indrianty Sudirman, Unhas Hospital’s board of directors, internal auditors, and representatives from KFW and PT. Hutama Karya.
Key Achievements of the KFW-Unhas Hospital Project
Prof. Indrianty Sudirman, PIU Head, explained that the project’s completion included:

Construction of Buildings B, C, and D

Procurement of advanced medical equipment

Implementation of telemedicine and Hospital Management Information System (HMIS)
The KFW loan played a crucial role in enhancing the hospital’s infrastructure, ensuring better healthcare services for the public.
Strengthening Healthcare and Education Through KFW Partnership
Prof. Indrianty emphasized the challenges faced during the project but expressed gratitude for its timely completion:
“Despite numerous obstacles, we successfully finalized this project. We hope these new facilities will benefit both patients and medical students.”
Dr. Andi Muhammad Ichsan, Director of Unhas Hospital, also acknowledged the PIU team’s dedication, stressing the importance of optimizing the new facilities for improved healthcare delivery.
Rector’s Appreciation for KFW’s Contribution
Prof. Jompa praised the collaboration between Unhas, the European Union, and KFW:
“Securing and executing this project was challenging, but the results are outstanding. This development will elevate both healthcare services and medical education at Unhas.”
