The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), successfully organised the 2nd Summer Course in collaboration with the International Dental Research Program (IDRP), supported by the International Association of Dental Research (IADR). The program was held from 18 to 28 August 2025 and welcomed students from 13 countries, including Romania, Mongolia, India, Tunisia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Afghanistan, China, and Indonesia.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., the Head of the Makassar Health Office, dr. Nursaidah Sirajuddin, M.Kes., representing the Mayor of Makassar; the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Irfan Sugianto, drg., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., Sp.RKG.; the Director of RSGMP UNHAS, Andi Tajrin, drg., M.Kes., Sp.B.M.M., Subsp. C.O.M.(K); the Secretary of UNHAS International Office, Muh. Ridwan, SS., MA., the Director of Education Transformation and Learning Innovation, Ir. Sahriyanti Saad, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D.; and the Head of the Subdirectorate of International Education, Dr. Februadi Bastian, STP., M.Si.
This second summer course stood out for its unique and comprehensive design. Besides offering cultural exchange activities, expert lectures from the host university, community engagement, and exploration of South Sulawesi’s natural and cultural heritage, the program also integrates hospital visits and active research participation. Students were encouraged to collaborate in producing scientific outputs, to publish either a review article or original research.
The combination of academic enrichment, international networking, and cultural immersion positioned the program as a valuable platform for strengthening global collaboration in dental research and education.
