Prof. Salengke, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FATETA) at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) and President of Indonesian Society for Agricultural Engineering (ISAE), represented ISAE and FATETA at the 50th Anniversary and Spring Conference of Korean Society for Agricultural Machinery (KSAM). This event was hosted by KSAM and held on 13-16 May 2026 at Sono Belle Hamdeok, Jeju Island, South Korea. It showcased the advancement in agricultural mechanization in South Korea, China, Indonesia, India, and Chile, especially in the development and adoption of smart agriculture, automation, and robotics technologies. This international gathering marked a milestone in advancing global collaboration on modern agricultural technology and mechanization, drawing academics, researchers, industry leaders, and practitioners from around the world.
The event, themed “Toward a 50-Year Future: The World of Smart Agricultural Machinery through Convergence,” showcased the sector’s shift from conventional equipment to integrated systems driven by automation, robotics, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Professor Salengke spoke at the conference, presenting “Current Status of Smart Agriculture and Direction for Technological Development in Indonesia.” He summarized recent advances in Indonesian smart-agriculture adoption, identified key challenges, and recommended technological pathways to boost productivity and sustainability across the national agricultural sector.
Prof. Salengke’s participation highlights the active role of Indonesian academics and industries in advancing global agricultural technology. His presence provided a strategic opportunity to broaden international collaboration, promote knowledge exchange, and accelerate research on mechanization, automation, and digitalization tailored to Indonesia’s agriculture.
Beyond the scientific sessions, Prof. Salengke held discussions with agricultural researchers and technology developers from several universities and industries on the development and application of smart-agriculture solutions in Indonesia. This international engagement is expected to reinforce the FATETA at UNHAS and ISAE’s leadership in fostering innovation, partnerships, and adoption of modern agricultural technologies across Indonesia.
