Approximately Half of the Graduates Attained a GPA above 3.50

Out of the 656 Universitas Hasanuddin graduates inaugurated by the Unhas Rector, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A., on 7 September 2016 in Baruga Andi Pangerang Petta Rani Tamalanrea Campus, approximately half among them  (43,8% to be precise), achieved a GPA above 3,50. Meanwhile 45,1% attained a GPA of 3,00 – 3,50, while 11,1% attained a GPA below 3,00%. 

“The achievement clearly makes us proud, as 88,9% of the total graduates achieved a GPA above 3,00,” stated Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, during the 1st graduation period of September, attended by the Head of the Board of Trustees Unhas, Prof. Dr. Basri Hasanuddin, M.A., Vice Rectors, Faculty Deans, and a number of Academic Senates of Unhas.

Based on the length of studies, Dwia stated, 58,5% of the graduates completed their studies below four years, 15,4% in 4-5 years, and 26,2% in 5 years. Above half of the overall figures, completed their education in a relatively short amount of time, which is in 4 years.

The progress is seen on the GPA attained, and the brief periods of study time throughout the years reflects that the lecturing processes are becoming better. This goes in align with the institution's primary objective of increasing the quality of learning, therefore achieving an optimized studying process.

Dwia also elaborates that in 2016, Unhas students achieved 12 International awards. Among them was the accomplishment of an Unhas student in obtaining a gold medal during a Scientific Papers Competition, ‘The 8th European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation 2016’ in Romania, dated the 19th-21st of May 2016.

Another student successfully obtained a second prize award during the “Pre-Conference Competition of the 29th East Asian Medical Student Conference 2016,” taking place in Taiwan.

Utilizing information technology, the monitoring of lecture attendance, scholarships, events, student achievements, lecture workloads, and remunerations of lectures and staffs, would all be based upon the use of information technologies.

“Starting from this new academic year, Unhas launched a system that would assist parents/ guardians in monitoring the academic performance developments of their sons or daughters online,” stated proudly by Dwia.

In relation to research, the advancements of resources and partnerships are also worth to be proud of. In 2016, Unhas comprises of 3 superior centers (PU), including seaweed, development of cow livestock in the Maiwa Breeding Center, and the development of Higher Education Institution for Green Knowledge (PETUAH) with the Smart Land Used Technology (SALUT).

The expansions to regional cooperations as a form of community service have also run well. On 30 August 2016, Unhas conducted an integrated community service centered in the District of Sidrap.

Unhas Rector further elaborates, coincided with the Republic of Indonesia’s 71st commemoration, The Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Higher Education positioned Unhas as the 8th best in Higher Education Institution in Indonesia.  “Hopefully when the time comes, Unhas will be placed in the top 5 or 6 amongst the Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia,” hoped Dwia.
