Civil and Environmental Engineering of Universitas Hasanuddin Conducted International Conference on Civil and Environmental Engineering (ICCEE) 2019

Universitas Hasanuddin, Department of Civil Engineering (DTS) dan Department of Environmental Engineering (DTL) held an International event entitled "The 3rd International Conference on Civil and Environmental Engineering (ICCEE) 2019". The event brought up a theme "Toward Sustainable Green Infrastructure Development in Industrial Revolution 4.0 Era". It took palace at Patra Hotel, Denpasar Bali on August 29th-30th, 2019. 

 

The ICCEE 2019 is the third series of the conference established by DTS dan DTL of Unhas. This Collaboration presented two Keynote Speakers dan 6 Invited Speakers from 6 different countries. The keynote speaker was Mrs. Dewi Chomistriana, M.Sc. (Secretary to the Director-General of Construction of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing). Another keynote speaker was Prof. Alexander Babanin (Ocean Engineering, Melbourne University Australia).  

 

Invited Speakers in the conference are, as follows: 

– Prof. Kenichi Tsukahara (Kyushu University, Japan),

– Prof. Sun-Kyun Kim (Seoul National University, South Korea), 

– Prof. Yoshihiro Narita (JICA C-Best Academic Advisor, Hokkaido University, Japan), 

– Associate Professor Susilawati (Monash University, Malaysia), 

– Dr. William Sabandar (President Director PT. MRT, Jakarta) 

– Dr. Farid Padang (President Director PT. Pelindo IV). 

 

The event opened by Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA. In her opening speech, Prof. Dwia expressed her appreciation for this successful collaboration of both Departments of the Faculty of Engineering of Unhas.

 

Unhas consistently developed education and research strategy and quality. Unhas also actively encourage the establishment of academic activity such as Conference, and etc. as a main effort to achieve the target as the best University.  

 

"Regarding green infrastructure, Unhas, on a campus-scale, continues to make concrete efforts in establishing green spaces for the society. Certainly, this is under the support of various parties, especially the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (Kementrian PUPR) which provides continuance trust and support for green infrastructure at Hasanuddin University. We believe this effort will have a positive long-term impact on future generations,” said Prof. Dwia

 

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ir. M. Arsyad Thaha, MT, explained that this activity is the third series, which is expected to be a place to share experiences and knowledge of academics, practitioners, government and the construction industry related to the development of environmentally friendly sustainable infrastructure.

 

"This conference was also designed to develop relations and collaborations among the institutions involved. Interaction between speakers and participants will create a great opportunity for follow-up after the conference.

 

Dr. Eng. Bambang Bakri as a head committee reported that 7 keynote speakers from different countries (Jepang, Perancis, Korea, Malaysia, Sudan, Australia dan Indonesia) were invited to this conference. There were at least 164 papers which were divided into 6 different topics and presented in 6 parallel sessions. 

 

The ICCEE 2019 presented 9 main topics, as follows: 

1. geotechnical and rock mechanics,

2. maritime and coastal infrastructure,

3. project management and construction,

4. environmental engineering,

5. structure and material,

6. transportation and logistics,

7. smart and green infrastructure,

8. water and river engineering

9. city planning.

 

This event could be a good step for Unhas to play a greater role for the nation in terms of supporting green infrastructure that is sustainable and environmentally friendly. At the opening ceremony, 200 participants attended. The conference will also be a media presentation for master and doctoral students, especially Civil Engineering Unhas. (*)
