Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Established International Workshop on FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array)

Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Universitas Hasanuddin Established International Workshop invited Prof. Qian Zhao from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. The Workshop discussed a topic of "Efficient Software/Hardware Co-design for loT Using FPGAs". This event took place at Science Building, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, Monday (07/10).

FPGA or Field-Programmable Gate Array is an integrated circuit system (Integrated Circuit or IC) that can be reprogrammed after the instrument is produced. FPGA has a working principle similar to programmable read-only memory (PROM) but has more advantages.

The workshop was opened by the Vice-dean for development and finance, Dr. Sci. Muhammad Zakir. In his remarks, he explained that this workshop aims to share new knowledge and information related to FPGA which is commonly used in Digital Technology.

“This workshop is a form of cooperation between FMIPA and the Kyushu Institute. Previously, we had worked together on an International Community Service Program (KKN Internasional). Besides having a direct impact on the process of enriching new knowledge and insight, this program is also expected to contribute to the vision of the Unhas internationalization,” said Zakir.

After the official opening, the workshop was then continued by listening to a speaker, Prof. Qian Zhao. On the same occasion, they demonstrated the use of FPGA.

In this event, 2 inbound students from Kyushu Institute of Technology also attended to share their campus life in Kyushu Institute.

The Workshop was attended by approximately 40 participants and ended at 12.00 WITA. (*)
