The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Hasanuddin University held a guest lecture on the topic “Musculoskeletal Tumor” which invited guest lecturer Prof. Wan Faisham Nu’man B. Wan Ismail, MD., (Lecture from School of Medical Sciences Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan).
The activity took place starting at 09.00 WITA at the Orthopedic Department of Unhas, 3rd Floor of the Unhas Teaching Hospital Building A, Makassar, Monday (30/05).
The activity was officially opened by the Chancellor of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. In his speech, Prof. JJ welcomed the resource persons who were willing to attend in person to provide knowledge and share their experiences in the medical field.
“Malaysia is a sister country, it is very appropriate if we can learn a lot about the development of science and technology. So this activity is proof as a strategic partner of Unhas to develop science in the field of medicine,” said Prof. JJ.
Furthermore, Prof. JJ said the guest lecture program by presenting international speakers was an activity that became one of the means of developing knowledge and information for medical students to adopt science in responding to the challenges of future medical technology development.
“Unhas will always be ready to support any program that can give the best contribution to the development of the scientific field. This is an effort to deal with health problems and challenges, one of which is to improve health services and facilities that are on par with today’s developed countries,” explained Prof. JJ.
After the official opening, the activity was continued by listening to the presentation of material from the speakers. Prof. Wan Faisham explained the diagnosis, therapy, and several cases that occurred in patients with bone tumors.
Prof. Wan Faishama is a Professor and consultant surgeon at USM with a subspecialty in oncology and traumatology. He is currently an expert in orthopedic oncology applicable to sarcomas in Malaysia and has participated in numerous clinical research and multidisciplinary collaborations in the field of oncology, a field of medical science that focuses on cancer.
After the presentation of the presenters, the activity then continued with a discussion and question and answer session.
