Stem cell is an alternative in the future

If a tumor is removed from the tissue, the tissue will not be the way it was. However the big stem cells will be able to replace the lost of a tissue in the body. Stem cells are now used to tackle the tumor problem which can be an alternative way in the future.


'' Stem cells can be the best alternative than others, for example in replacing neurons lost, '' said the young Indonesian scientists of Unhas, dr. Taruna Ikrar, Ph.D. at the International Conference on Stem Cell at the Clarion Hotel Makassar, 28-29 May 2016.


Ikrar in his presentation appeared together with Doctor Cosphiadilirawan (Jakarta), Moniruddin Chouwdurry, M.D., MB.Bsc., Ph.D (Malaysia), Rahmawati Minhajat, M.D., Ph.D. (Makassar), and Rica Tanaka (Tokyo Japan).


Meanwhile, in another section, Prof. Dr. dr. Ferry Sandra (Jakarta) in his presentation, said that stem cells are naturally present in the human body. But in the human body, there are stem cell that process psychologically which able to create other new stem cells.


''Many people are now using stem cells to carry out such treatment in RSCM Hospital in Jakarta, '' said Ferry Sandra who is a Professor in Trisakti University, born March 11, 1973. 


Moreover, according to Ferry who is an alumni from Kyushu University in Japan, now researcher can create stem cell from a mature cell. Ferry Sandra also reported that from 2005 to 2014, there have been several remarkable results in the use of these stem cells. He said that the stem cell therapy can be used for patients with heart failure.

 

The conference was opened by the Governor of South Sulawesi Dr. H. Syahrul Yasin Limpo, SH, M.Si, M.H. who was accompanied by the Rector of UNHAS Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A. (*).
