Universitas Hasanuddin successfully reached the 1st winner for Widyapadhi Award (Category of Innovation Management) on the Science, Technology, and Innovation Award 2019. The event was an annual agenda by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti). It was held on National Technology Awakening Day (Hakteknas). The award of Widyapadhi by the Minister of Kmenristekdikti was witnessed by Vice-President of Indonesia, Muh. Jusuf Kalla. The event took place at Renon Field, Bali Governor's Office Complex, Denpasar, Wednesday (28/08).
The Category of Widyapadhi is an award of appreciation for University in developing Innovation System through strengthening policies, institutions, resources, and innovation networks to produce innovative products.
Minister of Kemenristekdikti, Prof. H. Mohammad Nasir, Ph.D, Ak., in his opening speech, explained that the award is a form of appreciation for the efforts and contributions in Innovation. The final goal is to bring progress to the nation and state of Indonesia and as evaluation, therefore the technological progress can be achieved in the near future.
"We need innovation to reduce our dependency toward imported products and certainly it is hoped that the innovation will help reduce the existing social gap. Today, with all the developments that exist in every aspect of life, of course, attention is needed related to technological developments and hard work is always needed and prioritized, "explained Mohammad Nasir.
On the same occasion, The Vice-President of the Republic of Indonesia, H. M. Yusuf Kalla congratulated all awardees.
"Innovation is evidence of progress, both in terms of science and technology. Better value, cost and time efficiency, and performance exist because of innovation. This is not just about appreciation, but about what we have given to the nation and state, "explained Yusuf Kalla.
The Award was given to innovators in the scope of Government Institution, Public and Private University, and Society as an encouragement to Innovation enhancement.
The winners of Widyapadhi Award (Category of Innovation Managements) are:
1st Winner: Universitas Hasanuddin
2nd Winner: Universitas Telkom
3rd Winner: Universitas Padjadjaran
Director of Communication of Universitas Hasanuddin, Suharman Hamzah, Ph.D. said that the award of Science, Technology, and Innovation was attended by more than 2000 stakeholders in Education field.
“We should be proud of this because South Sulawesi was awarded the first winner in several categories. South Sulawesi Government won the Budhipura award and Luwu Utara regency won the Budhipura Award for regency level” said Suharman.(*)
