Two students from the Food Science and Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FATETA), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), Ahmad Abyan Ash-Shiddiq M. and Mifta Auliatinur along with students from the Vocational Faculty, participated in a series of international activities at Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (POLISAS) in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia, through a student mobility exchange program and the International Agrofood and Biotechnology Festival @ Special Education Needs 2026.
The student mobility exchange program was held from 27–31 July 2026. The program provided students with opportunities to gain academic and industry experience while exploring the educational and food-processing environment in Malaysia. One of the main activities was a visit to Akie Group, a company engaged in burger patty production. During the visit, the students participated in various production activities, ranging from material and product sorting to packaging. This experience allowed the students to directly observe the application of food-processing technology and industrial work systems in an international setting. The activities continued with participation in the International Agrofood and Biotechnology Festival @ Special Education Needs 2026, held from August 2–4, 2026, at POLISAS. On the first day of the festival, participants took part in the SEA-NERGY Run 3KM, held at Pantai Cempaka, Kuantan. On August 3–4, the students participated in a series of competitions held as part of the international festival.
The international festival brought together 108 participating groups from Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and Brunei Darussalam. The participation of UNHAS students provided an opportunity to broaden their international experience while strengthening their ability to compete and collaborate in a global environment. A notable achievement was secured by Ahmad Abyan and Mifta Auliatinur, who received a Silver Medal in the Agrotechnology & Horticulture category at the International Agrofood and Biotechnology Festival @ Special Education Needs 2026. This achievement demonstrates the ability of FATETA UNHAS students to compete at the international level while showcasing their potential and creativity in agro-industrial technology and innovation.
Participation in the student mobility program and international competition not only provided valuable academic and industry exposure but also strengthened the students’ communication skills, cross-cultural collaboration, and international networks. These activities further support the Food Science and Technology Study Program and FATETA UNHAS in advancing the internationalization of education and providing students with meaningful global experiences. This initiative contributes particularly to SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing students with opportunities for experiential learning, international exposure, and the development of skills beyond the classroom. The activities also support SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration and academic connections between institutions and students across countries. In addition, the students’ participation in agrofood and biotechnology activities contributes to SDG 2: Zero Hunger by promoting knowledge, innovation, and skills related to food and agricultural technology.
