About the Program

The Environmental Health Master's Study Program is one of the six Master's level study programs managed by the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University.
In 1999, based on the decision of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 115/DIKTI/Kep/1999, the Environmental Health Masters Concentration was formed, still under the umbrella of the Public Health Sciences Masters Study Program until 2021. The Environmental Health Masters Study Program was officially became the sixth study program within the scope of FKM Unhas based on Unhas Chancellor's Decree Number 5685/UN4.1/KEP /2022 concerning Permits to Open the Master of Environmental Health Study Program at Hasanuddin University. The Unhas Environmental Health Master's Study Program can be seen from scientific development that is adapted to regional and local characteristics of the eastern region of Indonesia by understanding diverse cultures and cross cultures. The FKM Unhas Environmental Health Study Program will focus on scientific development based on coastal and island areas as its uniqueness and excellence. The concept of the Maritime Continent views the Indonesian archipelago and the Indonesian nation as having various tribes, ethnicities, cultures, religions and groups as one unit. This means that environmental health studies which aim to solve environmental health problems and develop community health in coastal and island areas will be the focus of the FKM Unhas Public Health Study Program in the future.

Learning Process

  • Learning is carried out directly in the classroom, as well as field practice around coastal areas and practice in the laboratory.
  • Students will get active learning experiences in various forms such as case studies, independent presentations, writing articles.
  • Students will take part in benchmarking or mini courses at other universities at international level to develop student skills.
  • The final assignment is in the form of research that results in the publication of a Scopus indexed journal and a thesis for a particular field according to study interests.

Graduates of the Master of Environmental Health are. Through a tracking study of alumni of the Environmental Health study program spread throughout Indonesia, a profile or description of the position and qualifications of graduates is obtained which is broadly grouped into graduate profiles. This profile is Consultant, EducAtor, Researcher, MaNager, abbreviated to LEARNER. The explanation of this profile is as follows:

  • Consultant (consultant). Each graduate is expected to be able to become a consultant on various environmental issues related to public health by understanding the uniqueness of various coastal and island areas.
  • Educator (educator). Every graduate is expected to be able to become an educator, both in various institutions that teach environmental health sciences, as well as in community empowerment activities; educators who have an understanding of the uniqueness of various coastal and island areas.
  • Researcher (Researcher). Each graduate is expected to be able to carry out independent research as problem solving for environmental health problems experienced by the community by understanding the uniqueness of various coastal and island areas. Graduates are also able to carry out scientific publications in reputable journals. national or international level.
  •  Manager (manager): each graduate is expected to be able to become a wise manager, who has an understanding of the uniqueness of various coastal and island areas, especially in various environmental health activities and programs.
