MAKASSAR – Hasanuddin University (Unhas) has begun distributing free alma mater jackets to new students in the Bachelor’s and Applied Bachelor’s Programs for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. A total of 10,000 alma mater jackets have been prepared for new students from all admission tracks, including the Independent Admission (Jalur Mandiri) track.
Distribution of the jackets began on Monday (29 June) for new students admitted through the national merit-based admission (SNBP). The distribution runs through Friday (3 July) and is carried out in stages by faculty. Students can collect their jackets at the Scientific Meeting Building (GPI) of Hasanuddin University by showing proof of re-registration and/or proof of payment of the single tuition fee (UKT).
For new students who live outside Makassar or have difficulty with distance and so cannot collect their jackets on their faculty’s schedule, Unhas is offering the chance to collect them no later than three days before the 2026 Campus Life Orientation for New Students (PKKMB). This policy is intended to make things easier for students from various regions without disrupting their preparations for the PKKMB activities.
The free alma mater jacket program continues a policy first introduced last year as part of Hasanuddin University’s efforts to improve the quality of its services to students. Under this policy, all new students can obtain an alma mater jacket as their official Unhas student identity at no additional cost.
Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of Unhas, Prof. Muhammad Ruslin, drg., M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.B.M.Mf., Subsp. Ortognat.D., said that providing alma mater jackets free of charge reflects the university’s commitment to delivering ever better services that put students first.
“The alma mater jacket is an official identity and a symbol of pride in being part of Hasanuddin University. Through this program, we want to ensure that all new students, regardless of admission track, have the same right to wear their alma mater identity from the start of their studies,” said Prof. Ruslin.
The free alma mater jacket reflects Unhas’s commitment to providing inclusive services, easing the burden on students and parents, and fostering a sense of belonging to the alma mater from the first day as part of the academic community.
“We hope the free alma mater jacket will motivate new students to actively develop their academic and non-academic potential and to uphold the good name of Hasanuddin University through achievements and real contributions to society,” said Prof. Ruslin.
Besides improving student services, the program also supports a uniform student identity at academic, student, and official activities representing Hasanuddin University.
The Unhas Directorate of Student Affairs urges all new students to follow the collection schedule for their respective faculties, bring the required documents, and pay attention to official information conveyed through Unhas communication channels so that distribution runs in an orderly and smooth manner.(*/khms/ir)
