Calcaneus Medical Assitance Team of Faculty of Medicine Held a Humanitarian Operation in Nusa Tenggara Timur

Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Hasanuddin engaged the Calcaneus Medical Assistance Team (TBM Calcaneus) in humanitarian actions for victims of flash floods and landslides that hit East Nusa. Unhas has deployed the team since Wednesday (07/04).

Head of TBM Calcaneus FK Unhas, Sahrul Fajar Perdana, explained that TBM Calcaneus, which is engaged in medical emergencies, responsively deployed the medical team to help the evacuation process and provide health assistance at all evacuation posts.

“When TBM Calcaneus arrived in the disaster terrain, the team had to hike up and explore the settlements. Many locations in NTB and NTT have become the area disasters, such as Ende, Sikka, East Flores, Adonara Island, East Sumba, and Sabu Raijua Island. At the moment, the victims still need much assistance, especially medicines, medical equipment, and medical services. There are many areas in which the residents still occupy the disaster area and have not moved to safe posts.” Explained Sahrul.

The team is also open to fundraising from the public, which later will be distributed to the victims. Sahrul stated that the operational assistance, such as medicines, is running low. The donations received are not sufficient to fulfil the optimal health services.

Therefore, Sahrul invited people who want to help the victims. The donations can be sent via the Bank Mandiri account number 152-00-8882999-5 on behalf of TBM Calcaneus FK Unhas.

“At the location, there is a team consisting of 5 people. Due to limited operational costs, we have not been able to provide further assistance. We really hope that the community can be actively involved in supporting us in any form, especially medicine,” said Sahrul.
