The Central Sulawesi Provincial Government (Pemprov Sulteng) is strengthening its synergy with Hasanuddin University (Unhas) to ensure that the regional government scholarship program for students from Central Sulawesi reaches the intended recipients. The scholarship, called Berani Cerdas, was discussed at a meeting held at Hasanuddin University on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, in the Unhas Rectorate Building.

At the meeting, the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government was represented by the Head of the Education Office (Drs. Firmanza DP, S.H., M.Si). Hasanuddin University was represented by the Secretary to the Rector (Dr. Sawedi Muhammad, S.Sos., M.Sc.), the Unhas Director of Student Affairs (Abdullah Sanusi, Ph.D.), and the Dean of the Unhas Faculty of Vocational Studies (Prof. Dr. Ir. Muh. Restu, M.P).

Unhas Director of Student Affairs Abdullah Sanusi, Ph.D., said the number of students from Central Sulawesi studying at Hasanuddin University increases every year. Some of them are recipients of scholarships provided by Unhas or its partners.

“Unhas welcomes this strengthened synergy and hopes that various other forms of mutually reinforcing cooperation can be realized in the future,” Abdullah said.

Abdullah added that Hasanuddin University has a number of flagship programs supporting improvements in human resource quality, one of which is a fast-track program that allows students to complete their education up to the master’s level in five years.

In addition, Unhas has established recruitment cooperation with PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), located in Central Sulawesi, as part of efforts to prepare graduates who are ready to enter the workforce.

The Head of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Education Office, Firmanza, explained that there are currently 288 scholarship recipients from Central Sulawesi studying at Hasanuddin University. However, the office still faces challenges regarding the accountability of scholarship recipients.

“We were sent by the Governor to resolve this obstacle, so cooperation with universities is very important to ensure that the scholarship program reaches the intended recipients and is well managed,” Firmanza said.

Firmanza explained that the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government’s scholarship program, titled Berani Cerdas, allocates a budget of Rp90 billion for more than 23,000 students from Central Sulawesi spread across around 400 universities throughout Indonesia.

Through this strengthened synergy, the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government and Hasanuddin University hope that regional scholarship management can become more accountable and transparent and have a real impact on improving the quality of Central Sulawesi’s human resources. (*/kmhs)
