As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance global learning opportunities, the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), organized an International Class Guest Lecture for the Ethics, Law and Forensic Dentistry Course on 5 June 2026. The online academic session brought together students and faculty members to learn from an internationally recognized expert in forensic and medical sciences.
The lecture featured Prof. Dr. Pasuk Mahakkanukrauh, M.D., from the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand, who delivered a presentation entitled “Advanced Osteology Research in Thailand.” Conducted via Zoom at 1:00 PM WITA (12:00 PM Thailand Time), the event provided participants with valuable insights into contemporary developments in osteological research and its applications in forensic science.
During her presentation, Prof. Pasuk introduced participants to the latest trends and innovations in osteology research in Thailand. She explained how the scientific study of human skeletal remains contributes to forensic identification, anthropological investigations, and medico-legal case analysis. Drawing upon her extensive research experience, she shared examples of multidisciplinary collaborations that have advanced the field and improved the accuracy of forensic investigations.
The lecture generated enthusiastic participation from students enrolled in the international class program as well as those studying ethics, law, and forensic dentistry. Participants actively engaged in the discussion session, raising questions about research methodologies, ethical considerations in forensic investigations, and future opportunities for international collaboration in forensic science research.
Beyond providing academic enrichment, the activity also strengthened the relationship between UNHAS and Chiang Mai University. The guest lecture highlighted the importance of international partnerships in promoting knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and cross-cultural understanding among future healthcare professionals.
