The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) in collaboration with the Government of Takalar Regency and the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) H. Padjonga Dg. Ngalle., Celebes Cleft Center Foundation, and Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (PABMI) held a Social Service for Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery. The service took place in the Operation Room of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) H. Padjonga Dg. Ngalle Takalar, Sunday (02/01/2022).
The Dean of FKG Unhas, Prof. drg. Ruslin, Sp.BM, PhD put his pride in being able to afford the social service activities in Takalar in early 2022. In November 2021, FKG Unhas also conducted social service activities in Tompotana, Tanakeke Islands, Takalar Regency.
These activities covered dental health education in periodontics, dental health counselling in oral and maxillofacial surgery, dental and oral health examinations, and tooth extraction.
“This social service unarguably keeps numbers of benefits as it is the first free cleft lip and palate surgery held at the RSUD. Also, it manages the agreed-upon collaboration into reality,” Prof. Ruslin explained.
Furthermore, Prof. Ruslin also expressed his gratitude to the Takalar Government as one of the best partners of FKG. He hopes that this activity can provide benefits to the broader community.
On the same occasion, H. Syamsari Kitta, the Regent of Takalar, also dispatched her gratitude and thanks for the free cleft lip and palate surgery at the Takalar Hospital to be performed.
“Hopefully, this social service activity can help heal patients with problems in lip and palate, thereby reducing the population of people who have cleft lip and palate in Takalar Regency,” Syamsari added.
This activity also involved Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Nurse Anesthetist, the PPDGS (Dental Specialist Education) of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons from FKG Unhas and FKG UI.
The social service group of FKG Unhas included the Dean of the FKG Unhas (Prof. Muhammad Ruslin, drg., M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM(K), Director of the Teaching Hospital of Dental and Oral Health (RSGMP), Universitas Hasanuddin (Andi Tajrin, drg., M.Kes., Sp.BM(K), Head of the Periodontics Study Program of PPDGS, FKG Unhas (Prof. Dr. Sri Oktawati, drg., Sp.Perio).
Lecturers and Staff of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery FKG Unhas, i.e. Surijana Mappangara, drg., M.Kes., Sp. Perio(K)., Hasmawati Hasan, drg., M.Kes., Abul Fauzi, drg., Sp.BM(K)., Yossy Yoanita A, drg., Sp.BM and Mukhtar Nur Anam, drg., Sp.BM also attended the event.
