The program brought together academics from various higher education institutions across Southeast Asia and focused on three key areas: international scientific writing workshops, institutional benchmarking, and the development of international academic networks.

The academic mission commenced with a visit to Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) on 15–16 June 2026. During the visit, discussions focused on higher education development, research excellence, and potential areas for future collaboration. The visit provided a valuable platform for exploring opportunities for joint research projects, academic exchanges, collaborative publications, and other partnership programs that could benefit both institutions. The delegation also engaged in academic discussions aimed at strengthening research cooperation and fostering long-term institutional relationships.

Following the visit to Brunei Darussalam, the delegation continued their academic program at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, from 18–20 June 2026. Participants attended an international scientific writing workshop and engaged in discussions on strategies for enhancing research productivity and increasing publications in reputable international journals. The workshop provided valuable insights into current trends in academic publishing, manuscript preparation, journal selection strategies, and best practices for improving the quality and impact of scholarly publications.

In addition to the workshop, the visit to UiTM served as a benchmarking opportunity, allowing participants to learn from the university’s experiences in research management, academic development, and international collaboration initiatives. The exchange of ideas and experiences contributed to a deeper understanding of effective practices that can be adapted to strengthen academic and research activities at UNHAS.

According to Prof. Nurdin, the program offered valuable perspectives on strengthening research quality and expanding international collaboration opportunities. Meanwhile, Prof. Nurtiti Sunusi emphasized the importance of building sustainable academic networks that can contribute to the advancement of education, research, and community engagement activities within FMIPA UNHAS. The activities provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, exposure to best practices in higher education management, and the establishment of strategic partnerships with leading universities in the region.
