The Faculty of Nursing (FKep), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), held a strategic meeting with the Dean of Cluster Healthcare of Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, the Netherlands, Dominiscus Kamsma, on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. The meeting was attended by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the FKep UNHAS, Syahrul, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., and the Head of the International Office of UNHAS, who is also a faculty member of the FKep UNHAS, Andi Masyitha Irwan, S.Kep., Ns., MAN.,Ph.D. The meeting also attended by the lecturers from Hanze University of Applied Science, Judith Pellicaan, Sanne Heinen, and Hinke van der Werf
The discussion focused on strengthening and expanding the long-standing collaboration between the two institutions. Several key areas of cooperation were discussed and agreed upon, including the continuation of student exchange programs and the development of joint research initiatives involving faculty members from both universities. During the visit, the UNHAS delegation also met with Hanze’s Erasmus Officer, Jan Henny Zijlstra and Lydia Altenburg, to discuss plans for enhancing collaboration through capacity-building and professional development programs for lecturers and students.
Particular attention was given to future cooperation in the areas of Planetary Health and the development of nursing curricula. These initiatives reflect the shared commitment of both institutions to addressing global health challenges and advancing the quality of nursing education. The FKep UNHAS and Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen have maintained a strong and active partnership since 2018. Through this collaboration, Hanze students have regularly participated in academic programs at the FKep UNHAS, typically spending one semester in Makassar as part of their international exchange experience.
In addition, lecturers and nursing students from UNHAS have participated in teaching, learning, and exchange programs at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, further strengthening academic ties and fostering international learning opportunities for both institutions. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both universities to continue expanding their partnership and creating new opportunities for academic collaboration, research, curriculum development, and professional capacity building in nursing and health sciences.
