MAKASSAR – The Rector of Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., inaugurated and administered the oath of office to 110 new officials within Unhas. On the occasion, Prof. Jamaluddin stressed the importance of accountability, integrity, and collaboration in carrying out the trust of office through measurable performance.
The inauguration and swearing-in took place on the ground floor of the Rectorate Building, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Tuesday (1 September).
Prof. JJ reminded the new officials to understand the substance of the oath of office they had taken. In Prof. JJ’s words, the oath of office carries great responsibility. Prof. JJ also noted that the trust placed in the new officials is tied to expectations of their contribution to achieving the institution’s targets. Every official needs to understand the performance indicators directly related to their duties and responsibilities.
“An indicator-based approach is needed so that the performance of duties does not stop at administrative activities. Every program must have clear objectives, measurable indicators of achievement, and evaluations that can be used to improve performance,” Prof. JJ advised.
In the context of institutional targets, Prof. JJ reminded them that Unhas has a major agenda to strengthen its position globally, including the target of entering the world’s top 500 universities. That target requires contributions across units.
“We work as a family, as one unit. Unhas has many targets, including the target of reaching the world’s top 500. To achieve that, we must work well together. We are professional in our work, but collaboration remains important,” said Prof. JJ.
Prof. JJ also expressed appreciation to the previous officials for the dedication they gave in supporting Unhas’s journey. Their contributions are considered to have helped strengthen Unhas’s position nationally and expand its role internationally. The handover of leadership is expected to strengthen the continuity of programs, improve the quality of governance, and accelerate the achievement of Unhas’s strategic targets nationally and globally.(*/mir)
