Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Pharmacy once again organized an international conference entitled “The 2nd International Conference on Pharmaceutical Materials, Engineering, and Applied Science (ICOPMES)” with the theme “Addressing Challenges in Science, Technology, and Pharmacy for a Better Future.”
The activity took place at the Unhas Hotel and Convention Center Ballroom, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, and was connected live via the Unhas Webfarmasi Youtube channel, Friday (11/11).
The 2nd ICOPMES is an international conference held by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Hasanuddin University, to widely share and discuss emerging innovations in the field of pharmaceutical science, the latest discoveries in the development of new drugs from natural resources, and the use of pharmaceutical preparations to optimize patient care. This activity presented 8 speakers from 6 countries, namely

Starting the activity, the chairman of the organizing committee Abdul Rahim, Ph.D, Apt., in his speech conveyed the purpose and purpose of this activity is as a space for researchers to discuss and examine the development of science in various topics of discussion in the field of pharmaceutical science.
On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Marianti A. Manggau, Apt., in her speech greeted and welcomed the speakers who had attended and visited Unhas directly. He hopes that the speakers who are present from various backgrounds and different countries can provide insight and share their experiences in their fields of expertise. So that the latest ideas and innovation ideas can be created in supporting the improvement of research and research in the pharmaceutical field.
The activity was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Planning, Development and Finance Prof. Subehan, S.Si., M.Pharm., Sc., Ph.D., Apt. In his remarks on behalf of the Rector of Unhas expressed his gratitude for all the preparations made by the organizing committee. So that the ICOPMES 2022 international conference can be held offline by bringing in speakers from various countries.
Also present, representing the Governor of South Sulawesi Dr. Hj Rosmini Pandin, MARS, as the Head of South Sulawesi Provincial Health Office. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for the implementation of ICOPMES 2022 Faculty of Pharmacy Unhas. It is hoped that it can produce recommendations and creative ideas in overcoming pharmaceutical problems in order to nourish the nation’s life and realize a healthy Indonesia.
“There are several indicators to achieve national health security which will support the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2024, including the availability and affordability of quality products in health services and public awareness of health in the pharmaceutical field which is in the scope of health which is closely related to health products and services,” explained Dr. Hj. Rosmini Pandin.
Furthermore, she explained that stimulation and innovation in health services are needed to support the availability and affordability of high-quality products and services. The emergence of new products against scientific understanding allows drugs to be more appropriate and suitable for individuals.
“Therefore, it is hoped that pharmacists can take roles and opportunities in various health care ecosystems, both in research and development of manufactured products, distribution, regulatory services, and for educational personnel,” added Dr. Hj. Rosmini Pandin.

The 2nd International Conference on Pharmaceutical Materials, Engineering, and Applied Science (ICOPMES) 2022 is scheduled to run for two days until Saturday (12/11) with approximately 200 participants attending.
