Hasanuddin University has reaffirmed its commitment to building a safe and healthy work environment through a series of activities for Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month, organized by the Subdirectorate of the K3 Assurance System and Welfare of the Directorate of Human Resources (SDM).
The event was held on Saturday (31 January) and attended by administrative staff, particularly Unhas security guards (Satpam). Today’s K3 Month activities began with a Fitness Check for Unhas staff (security guards). The activity was a collaboration with the Ministry of Health, specifically its Public Health Division through the Environmental Health, Occupational Health, and Sports Section.
After the fitness check, the security guards received Firefighting and First Aid (P3K) training.
“This activity is designed to improve the technical competence and preparedness of security personnel in facing emergencies on campus,” said the Head of the Subdirectorate of the K3 Assurance System and Welfare, Prof. Dr. Lalu Muhammad Saleh, SKM., M.Kes.
Today’s activities will close with a K3 quiz competition as an educational and participatory means of strengthening understanding and internalizing the principles of occupational safety.
Prof. Lalu said that this series of activities symbolizes strengthening the role of change agents in building sustainable K3 awareness and culture in each work unit.
“Holding K3 Month is a strategic step in raising awareness of occupational safety and health among those who are expected to make it a culture that continues to be applied,” Prof. Lalu said.
Improving the competence of human resources, especially security officers, is key to effective and sustainable K3 implementation.
“Through first aid and firefighting training, we are encouraging Unhas security guards to build their capacity to handle potential hazards and work risks properly and quickly. This also supports strengthening the K3 culture at Hasanuddin University,” said Prof. Lalu.(*/aya)
