Hasanuddin University, through the Academic and Student Affairs Division, held Unhas Open Day (UOD) 2026 as a space for education and open dialogue for prospective new students. The event gave the public a way to obtain comprehensive information about the education system and study options at Unhas.
The event began at 09:00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) at the JK Arenatorium Sports Hall, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Saturday (7 February). It was attended by the Rector and faculty-level leaders.
Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of Unhas, Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM (K)., said that UOD is not merely a promotional event but the widest possible space for prospective students to interact directly with the academic community about their study plans.
Participants could ask questions openly and receive comprehensive explanations about the education process at Unhas. This approach is expected to help prospective students gain a complete picture before deciding on their study choices.
“2026 is the fourth year of UOD. The event is held consistently as a sign of Unhas’s commitment to providing broad, transparent, and accurate information to the public. Unhas wants to ensure that every prospective student pursues their education with strong confidence in their academic choice,” explained Prof. Ruslin.
In the 2026 new student admission, Unhas prioritizes the national selection pathways. A total of 80.71% of the quota is allocated through national selection, consisting of SNBP (national merit-based admission) at 31.14%, or 3,620 seats, and SNBT (national test-based admission) at 49.57%, or 5,671 seats.
“For the Seleksi Mandiri (independent admission) pathway, 19.29% is allocated. This policy shows Unhas’s commitment to keeping national selection as the top priority in recruiting quality prospective students from across Indonesia,” added Prof. Ruslin.
Unhas has 74 undergraduate study programs and 13 vocational study programs that prospective new students can learn about directly.
UOD 2026 was officially opened by Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. In the opening remarks, Prof. JJ stressed that the event is the best moment to see Unhas more fully and get to know the campus more closely, not only through social media.
UOD is also a moment to reflect on Unhas’s readiness to receive new students. Each faculty has carried out a comprehensive evaluation, from program readiness and learning facilities to an academic system that adapts to the times.
The younger generation plays an important role in enabling Indonesia to escape the middle income trap. The demographic bonus will become a strength only if accompanied by high-quality human resources. For this reason, Unhas is committed to preparing graduates who are resilient, competitive, and globally competitive.
“Welcome to Unhas, a campus that opens opportunities for students with a strong fighting spirit. Those who join are future leaders, remarkable people ready to grow together with Unhas,” explained Prof. JJ.
Closing the remarks, Prof. JJ said that the rise of eastern Indonesia must be supported by economic strength and excellent human resources. Unhas is present as part of that effort.
After the opening, the event continued with participants visiting the faculty tenants. UOD 2026 featured 21 tenants, consisting of 18 faculty/graduate school tenants and 3 supporting tenants, ranging from the New Student Admission Information tenant to the Student Affairs tenant, which provided information on student activities and scholarships.
Besides the tenant exhibition, UOD 2026 also featured information sessions from each faculty, complemented by campus tours and campus loops to give a firsthand experience of the campus environment.
On the first day, participants’ enthusiasm for UOD 2026 was very high, reflected in the attendance of more than 5,000 participants. The event is scheduled to run until Sunday (8 February). (*/mir)
