Hasanuddin University (Unhas) has once again recorded a proud achievement on the international stage. Seven Unhas scientists have been included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2025 list, the 2% most influential scientists in the world as compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with the international scientific publisher Elsevier BV. The latest list was officially released on Saturday (20 September).
The Unhas scientists named in the ranking are:
- Prof. Firzan Nainu, S.Si., M.Biomed.Sc., Ph.D – Professor of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy.
- Prof. Dr. Dahlang Tahir, M.Si. – Professor of Materials Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA).
- Prof. Andi Dian Permana, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. – Professor of Drug Delivery, Faculty of Pharmacy
- Prof. Ir. Andi Dirpan, S.TP., M.Si., Ph.D. – Professor of Agricultural Product Technology, Faculty of Agriculture
- Prof. Dr. Eng. Mawardi Bahri, M.Si. – Professor of Signal Research and Development, FMIPA
- Prof. Anwar Mallongi, SKM., M.Sc., Ph.D. –Professor of Environmental Health Sciences, Faculty of Public Health
- Prof. Drs. H. Burhanuddin Arafah, M.Hum., Ph.D. – Professor of English Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences
This achievement shows an upward trend. In the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2024 edition, six Unhas scientists were on the list. This year, the number has risen to seven.
For context, the ranking is based on scientific citation data compiled from Scopus through the end of 2024. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields according to the Science-Metrix standard. The ranking also takes into account field- and subfield-specific percentiles for all scientists with at least five publications.
Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, warmly welcomed the achievement. Unhas gives every lecturer and researcher ample room to do their work.
